A HALO organization is working to have more kid volunteers join their new initiative to make friendship bracelets for needy kids and teens at their orphanages worldwide. Club HALO is a youth volunteer service where kids are given a chance to participate in a hands-on project to make bracelets to be mailed off to kids across the world at other HALO organizations.

The Associated Press reported earlier this month that 60 Missouri Department of Corrections officers sent a letter on behalf of Dorsey asking Governor Mike Parson to grant him clemency. The AP report says, DOC officers cite Dorsey’s behavior in prison as the main reason for their plea. the report says officers say Dorsey has stayed out of trouble and has always been respectful to the staff.

Winter weather has officially moved in. The Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F has handled over two hundred calls for service today since the ice started forming on the roads early this morning. “We had issues along I-70 63. US-54 50, and a lot of the two lanes state highways around Troop FWe did have a fatality crash on I-70," shares Sergeant Kyle Green, Troop F MSHP Public Information Officer.

Today in Columbia, the Stop Human Trafficking Coalition Of Central Missouri held an awareness day in Columbia as a part of National Human Trafficking Prevention Month for the community to come together to learn of ways to prevent the human trafficking of kids and how social media is a gateway cause. The human trafficking awareness was an all-day event where over a dozen people were in attendance in person and on Zoom.

A new youth center located next to United Way on Providence is gearing up to open its doors for children in Columbia to have a place to be empowered and inspired through education. The Columbia Parks And Recreation has officially given the go-ahead for ice skating at Stephens Lake Park and ice fishing at Cosmo Bethel Park. Now, that the ice thickness now reaches 4 inches deep which is a requirement, it is deemed safe for a fun ice activity. The Columbia Parks And Rec urged in their press release for the public to be safe on the ice by:Never ice skate or ice fish alone. Do not gather in large groups in one spot on the ice. Ice skating and ice fishing are not allowed after dark.

The Washington Park’s feline friends now have a warm spot to go to during this cold weather season. The Wild Things Feral Feline Fix organization has spent 14 years providing shelters for feral cats and taking them to the Jefferson City Animal Shelter for spaying and neutering. Recently they added three new wooden shelters to the park after getting a request from JC Parks and rec to replace the previous styrofoam ones. “There were originally over 20 cats there at that location.
