Officer joining pursuit crashes with uninvolved vehicle

AURORA, Colo. — An Aurora Police officer was injured while attempting to join a pursuit of a stolen vehicle Friday morning. At about 5:51 a.m., officers located a Ford F-150 Raptor that was reported stolen out of Denver, according to police. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop and led officers on a chase, police said.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — One person has been displaced after a fire started in a home early Wednesday morning in Douglas County. Crews with South Metro Fire Rescue and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to the fire just before 2 a.m. Wednesday. Firefighters reported the fire was in the attic and spread through the roof, according to South Metro Fire. Two people were inside the home and were able to get out, South Metro Fire said.

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Residents in a Lakewood neighborhood are being asked to stay indoors Tuesday morning. The Lakewood Police Department has issued a shelter-in-place order for the area near South Allison Street and West Florida Avenue. The alert was sent out to residents at about 6 a.m. According to the alert from Jeffcom 9-1-1, there is an active threat to public safety and residents are asked to stay inside and lock all doors and windows.

AURORA, Colo. — A unique food competition has started in Aurora celebrating globally inspired foods. Global Flavors runs from May 1 to May 24. The public is invited to visit participating businesses and vote for their favorites. Winners will be announced at Global Fest, taking place Saturday, June 14, on the Great Lawn of the Aurora Municipal Center. Union workers at Lockheed Martin go on strike

LITTLETON, Colo. — United Auto Workers Local 766 members at Lockheed Martin walked out on strike Thursday morning, according to the union. Union workers gathered outside the Lockheed Martin Waterton Campus on Thursday to rally. The union said unfair labor practices and refusal to present a fair economic proposal were reasons for the strike. Lockheed Martin said it values its employees and looks forward to reaching a fair labor agreement.
Cale Makar named Norris Trophy finalist again

DENVER — Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar was named one of the three finalists for the National Hockey League's Norris Trophy. The James Norris Memorial Trophy is awarded to "the defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-around ability in the position." Makar started the 2024-25 season with a 13-game point streak, the second longest by a defenseman in league history.
