About six hours after Highland Park defeated Liberty Hill 2-0 in a Class 5A DII state championship game Friday afternoon at Birkelbach Field in Georgetown, the Scots had their victory forfeited by the University Interscholastic League. Therefore, Liberty Hill was awarded its first state championship in boys soccer.

CEDAR PARK — Winston Pool's fourth year as head coach of the Cedar Park Timberwolves coincides with senior forward Meredith Koltz's tenure on the varsity girls soccer team. Winning Cedar Park's first state soccer title won't be easy. In Friday's Class 5A Division II championship match, the Timberwolves (24-2-1) face off against top-ranked Frisco Wakeland (25-0-1), whose only blemish is a 1-1 tie with Highland Park on Jan. 31. One of Cedar Park's two losses this season was against Wakeland on Jan. 17.
