Plea for witnesses after Geelong cyclist death

Police are continuing their investigation into the death of a Geelong cyclist who was hit by a truck in Wyndham. The 49-year-old, whose name has not been released, was killed when he collided with a semi-trailer at the corner of Leakes and Derrimut Roads in Tarneit, at around 10.15am on Tuesday. It’s understood the man, whose name has not been released, was from Breakwater.

The AFL has been rocked by bombshell claims it has facilitated secrets tests for illicit drugs, to help players avoid detection on match days. Federal independent MP Andrew Wilkie on Tuesday night told parliament he is in posession of a signed statement by a former Melbourne Football Club doctor, in which he accuses the League of helping to arrange clandestine tests at a commercial pathology clinic in Hiedleberg, in Meloburne’s north-east.

More than $50,000 has been raised for the family of an Indian national who drowned near Apollo Bay earlier this month, as experts warn of the potential for more deaths over the Easter long weekend. Jil Khokhara, 26, was one of three men who were swept away while swimming at Marango beach on March 17. Bystanders and local lifeguards managed to rescue his friends but Mr Kholkara, who lived in Tarneit and was in Australia on an international Student Visa, died at the scene.
Geelong businesses blamed for Bendigo dumped tyre disgrace

Geelong businesses are being accused of contributing to a massive illegal tyre dumping ground just outside of Bendigo. An estimated 10,000 waste tyres were discovered in huge piles on a property at Lockwood, 14 kilometres south-west of Bendigo, after the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) received a tip-off from the public. The largest stack was 40 metres wide, 30 metres long and four metres high.
