A young child has died in a collision in Ocean Grove. Police were called to reports a car had lost control on Presidents Avenue just before 5pm Friday, colliding with a child who was on the footpath. Fire crews have battled a grass and scrub fire on the Bellarine Peninsula. Crews were called to Harvey Road just before 11am, finding the blaze around 20 metres by five metres in size. Detectives now believe a fatal house fire in Truganina is linked to the illegal tobacco wars, with the offenders targeting the wrong property. 27-year-old Hoppers Crossing Katie Tangey was house-sitting the Dover Street property while family members were away. Katie and the family’s dog died at the scene of the fire in the early hours of January 16.
Crypto ATMs targeted by thieves

Crypto ATMs in areas including Werribee and Hoppers Crossing have been targeted by thieves. Police have arrested four people over the last week, after six of the ATMs were stolen, along with around $50,000 worth of collector cards. Detectives raided properties across Melbourne, also seizing five guns, allegedly stolen car keys, ammunition, a pill press machine and power tools.
