Sumter Co., SC (WOLO) — The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office says they are searching for a 17 year old accused of leading deputies on a chase after they say he tried to avoid a safety checkpoint. The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and the Sumter Police Department were conducting a joint checkpoint Thursday, May 8 around 9:30pm when they say deputies saw a car turn around to avoid the checkpoint and speed away from the area.

Newberry Co., SC (WOLO) — The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man they say is connected to a church burglary in the county last month. Authorities say 26 year old Joshua William Wright of Easley was apprehended in Pickens County and taken to the Newbery County Detention Center. Officials say Wright is accused of breaking into the Calvary Baptist Church April 7, 2025.

The facility held their 5th annual “Meet the Artists” event as a part of their Workforce Development Program. Some of the artwork from the event includes custom furniture, pottery, paintings and more, and some work that has even made its way to the Soda City Market at the D.J.J. Store of Hope. Two scientists in South Korea followed 110 healthcare workers classified as “overworked” and “non-overworked.” they then used a neuroimaging technique to analyze brain volume. The overworked group, working 52 hours or more each week, had significant changes in brain regions associated with executive function and emotional regulation compared to the “non-overworked”.

Orangeburg, SC (WOLO) — In Orangeburg County, a seventh suspect is in custody Tuesday in connection to a deadly motel shooting in the area. Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announced Tuesday that 17-year-old Carlos Esaw faces Murder charges in the death of 34-year-old Samson Green from a shooting that took place back in April. Investigators say Green was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds outside of the Crown Inn on Bamberg Road.
