For some arachnids such as spiders and scorpions, it's normal for the offspring to consume their mom to live. But it's a sign of supreme desperation when a human mother tells her starving children that they should eat her body for sustenance when she dies. That heartbreaking story is related in "Sickle," Abbey Fenbert's one-act drama that's up at Mixed Blood Theatre through this weekend.

By Rohan Preston 'The Mousetrap' will continue to spring a little longer at Monkswell Manor. The Guthrie Theater has extended the run of its first-ever production of the Agatha Christie classic whodunit that's set in a snowed-in country house. The question arises with urgency after siblings Shadi (Elena Yazzie) and Broder (Nathaniel TwoBears) are temporarily cast into the spirit world during an intervention. Broder does not speak his family's ancestral Navajo language. Shadi knows only a few phrases, which she begins to yell in desperation. Fortunately for them, the Formless Being (Niizhogaabo) appears, speaking both Diné bizaad and English. The afterlife, it turns out, is bilingual.
