CANTON, Ohio (WJW) — It was an exceptionally long ribbon to cut for what is a unique place — the first of its kind in Ohio. The Honor Home in Stark County is a place where homeless women veterans and their children can find a safe place to stay. “We all need a soft place to land. It is beautiful that we have a home for homeless veterans, but it’s horrible that we need one,” said Ohio Women Veterans Committee Chair Dana Robinson-Street.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) – Steve Presser’s garage is full of stuff. It’s actually stuffed with stuff… with stuff piled on top of other stuff. While it may look like a bunch of stuff to you, for someone out there, this stuff will just make them happy. “This is the whole idea, finding your youth and something that was important to you when you were younger and able to bring it back. If it brings you joy, what better gift is there?” Presser said.

CLEVELAND (WJW) — Local leaders fought for years to expand the federal Job Corps in Cleveland back in the late 1990s and the Coit Road center opened. Since then, thousands of young people have gone through there and received job training. It’s something the Cleveland United Pastors in Mission said has to continue. “It’s a sad day when you have to close down one of our major institutions that becomes the last resort for our families and our children. It is there that they get a career started,” Rev.

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) — A 4-year-old boy with power tools is a wonderful thing. A’Marii likes the sound it makes. He was having ball, just running around and being surrounded by lot of things to see and do and to poke at. “He’s very busy, very energetic, fun-filled. You never would imagine that he’s going through active chemo, the way he just smiles and hugs everybody,” A’Marii’s mom Kamari said. Since February, A’Marii has been housebound. His only playmate: his little sister. Cancer does that to a child.
