San Angelo's Fort Concho will host its School of the Soldier, a living history training course for volunteers, that will be open to the public to observe. From Friday to Sunday, Fort Concho will hold the course for current and future volunteers who portray the soldiers of the 1870s and 1880s, according to a news release.

One San Angelo Police Department lieutenant has retired and two have been suspended after an internal investigation into stolen firearms, according to police. Texas Rangers handled the independent criminal investigation, police said. It is under review by the Texas Attorney General’s Office. On April 23, agents with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security apprehended a man at the border attempting to cross over into Mexico with firearms.
