Brittany Pettersen’s message to Congress: “Don’t f— with moms.”That’s what the Colorado congresswoman told reporters after she held her nine-week-old son, Sam, while making an emotional plea on the House floor Tuesday. Pettersen, who represents the state’s 7th Congressional District—the western Denver metro area—defended her proposal that would allow any new parent serving in Congress to vote by proxy, instead of in person, while caring for an infant.

Instead of sitting in sluggish Speer Boulevard traffic, why not soar above it? That’s the appeal of urban gondolas, a trendy topic in city planning. Over the last decade, a slew of U.S. cities—including Boulder, Albany, Austin, Baton Rouge, Chicago, Cleveland, and Seattle—have considered building aerial trams that would whisk commuters high above rush hour. None of the seven have pulled it off. Now it’s Denver’s turn to dream big, or at least, that’s what businessman Ryan Ross believes.

When you’re on vacation, taking a seat at the hotel bar and ordering a decadent cocktail feels like a true treat, especially after a long day of travel. But even for locals, hotel bars seem to have an undeniable draw. Maybe it’s because they typically incorporate gorgeous interior design and deliver consistently good service. Or maybe it’s the prime people-watching.

Q: Is it true that Baylor University once banned Willie Nelson from its campus? As a Waco native and proud Baylor grad, I’ve long been mocked by fans and alums of certain other Texas universities (two in particular come to mind) about this piece of Texas lore. Is this true? More importantly, what can green-and-gold clad Willie fans do to overturn the ban? Colin Powell, DallasA: The Texanist has buttered his bread by being aware of things Texan—all manner of things—for a pretty good while now.

Perhaps best known for its long-running folk music festival, which draws crowds of up to 30,000 every spring, the Hill Country town of Kerrville is equal parts artsy and laid-back. Drive about an hour northwest of San Antonio to this community of 25,000, and you’ll find a welcoming, walkable downtown overlooking the shady banks of the Guadalupe River. People from all walks of life seem to coexist peacefully here.

Colorado's @RepPettersen scored a rare win for working moms in Congress this week, evading Republicans' efforts to block her bill that would let lawmakers vote remotely after having a new baby. She's long advocated for parents in her home state: https://t.co/tJmW6Rn0ti

Gondolas in Denver?! For my first @5280Magazine byline, I asked urban planning experts if a new proposal to build an aerial tram over downtown could really lift off. (Answer: probably not, but hey, at least we're dreaming big.) https://t.co/RvXTEE8k8g
