Since their debut at Infinity Park on March 29, the Denver Onyx have quickly proved to be a powerhouse in Women’s Elite Rugby (WER), a six-team startup league attempting to professionalize women’s rugby in the U.S. In each of their first three games, the Denver squad blew the competition away, winning by more than 50 points in home games at Infinity Park. As the season progressed, those margins tightened, but until last weekend, the Onyx were undefeated.

At least an hour before dawn, birders start to arrive at a remote site seven miles southeast of the tiny town of Parlin, in southwestern Colorado. Bundled up against the cold, the visitors unload spotting scopes, binoculars, cameras with bulky zoom lenses, and steaming thermoses of coffee. They are cautioned to shut car doors as slowly and quietly as possible and to avoid making any other noises that could spook the birds.

On March 14, 1969, University of Colorado Russian history professor Thomas Riha went to a dinner party at a friend’s house. He stayed late and walked out to his car around 12:30 a.m. for the short drive across town to the house he’d shared until recently with his soon-to-be-ex-wife. Riha, an amiable, bookish 40-year-old who had moved to Colorado two years earlier, was never seen again.

Brittany Pettersen’s message to Congress: “Don’t f— with moms.”That’s what the Colorado congresswoman told reporters after she held her nine-week-old son, Sam, while making an emotional plea on the House floor Tuesday. Pettersen, who represents the state’s 7th Congressional District—the western Denver metro area—defended her proposal that would allow any new parent serving in Congress to vote by proxy, instead of in person, while caring for an infant.

Over the last decade, a slew of U.S. cities—including Boulder, Albany, Austin, Baton Rouge, Chicago, Cleveland, and Seattle—have considered building aerial trams that would whisk commuters high above rush hour. None of the seven have pulled it off. Now it’s Denver’s turn to dream big, or at least, that’s what businessman Ryan Ross believes.

The shroom boom is coming to Colorado, and it's a new Wild West. Fascinating, funny, mind-expanding feature by my colleague @MileHighRobert, who microdosed in the name of journalism!

"Colorado’s psychedelic movement has not only been supported by clinicians and policymakers, but it’s also increasingly embraced by private capital financiers, wellness gurus, wine moms, and tech bros." @milehighrobert for @5280Magazine: https://t.co/fAhC0TJ6yv
