THE dangers of dumping unwanted hay in the New Forest have been highlighted by the Verderers Court. In a warning to equestrians, Richard Deakin told the meeting that hay is often found dumped on the Forest in spring and summer when it is deemed “unfit” for riding ponies.

Speaking at a meeting of the Verderers Court, New Forest Roads Awareness campaigner Gilly Jones revealed a nurse and commoner called Sarah and a tree surgeon called Trevor had gone “above and beyond” to help the stricken animal.

A WALKFORD home which featured prominently in 1990s BBC sitcom One Foot in the Grave is up for sale with a £337,500 price tag. Although the interior shots were filmed in a studio, the three-bedroom terraced property at 4 Tresillian Way was used for filming the exterior of Victor and Margaret Meldrew’s residence. Iconic scenes included the cankerous pensioner machine-gunning scores of garden gnomes in front of the house and discovering his car in a skip.
