    BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The UTRGV football football program reached another milestone on Thursday night, playing its first-ever spring game. The team was divided in two squads for the contest, the Orange and White teams. Laredo native Atzel Chavez Jr., a quarterback for the White team, stood out as he led his squad to a 17-5 victory. Chavez Jr., a freshman, completed 9 of 15 pass attempts for 110 yards.

The duo will continue to play together at the collegiate level. Gonzalez, a defensive end, and Torres, a defensive tackle, signed their letters of intent to play at Schreiner University. “For the past four years we’ve been playing next to each other and it feels like whenever we play with each other, it’s different.” Gonzalez said.

    WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Weslaco golf team is heading to the Region IV-6A Tournament as the top seed. The Panthers earned the top seed after taking first place at the District 31-6A Tournament. “Everyday, everyday these boys practiced I never had to tell them to practice I gave them some work to do they would do the work,” said Weslaco boys golf coach Mike Givilancz III.
