HELENA — If you've ever been to the Bagel Company on Last Chance Gulch, nestled in their parking lot, you can catch an iconic red Volkswagen Beetle sitting in its same spot. The man who drives it is Fred Cowie. Cowie is someone who has worn many hats in his life. He has worked in the military, liaison for the FBI and as a professor at Carroll College. Now in retirement, he surrounds himself with people in a place he calls home every day painting or drawing art with a cup of decaf on the side.

HELENA — In this is week's edition of Out and About: Party for a good cause, a spring art and craft show and a pop-up art exhibit. Second Annual Leprechaun Ball - Lewis and Clark Fairgrounds - 03/27On Friday, the Bill Hamilton Building, at the Lewis and Clark Fairgrounds will be rocking and rolling for 4-H's Second Annual Leprechaun Ball. The ball will run from 6:30 to 10 p.m. and will have free snacks, drinks and other food throughout the event.

HELENA — A Helena man convicted of deliberate homicide for killing a woman last June was sentenced on Wednesday. "This is a heinous crime,” said Judge Mike McMahon. “The circumstances, the crime committed, the impact on all family members, the victim. This is egregious."McMahon sentenced Kenneth Greene to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He will also need to pay restitution to the victim's family. In January, Greene was convicted of murdering Bernadette Johnson.

In Helena, the sport has seen exponential growth over the years, creating opportunities for youth to further their education and athletics at the collegiate level. Rugby is held in a special place in Helena, not only at Centennial Park where the Helena Youth Rugby Club practices but in the heart of its members.
