MACON, Ga. (WGXA) -- Our next weathermaker is coming to Middle Georgia overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning. This storm complex does have a risk for severe weather bringing damaging winds that could knock down trees or powerlines, a brief tornado, and flooding. The consensus of the computer models is showing the storm system either entering late Wednesday night or pre dawn Thursday and moving through Thursday morning.

MACON, Ga. (WGXA) -- After Macon tied its warmest day so far this year Thursday, spring warmth is leading to spring showers and thunderstorms. Friday, most of Middle Georgia is under a level 1 out of 5 threat for severe storms. This means an isolated storm could turn severe producing damaging winds or a brief tornado. So, the next time you’re thinking about grabbing your fishing pole and headed to the river or lake, mercury, a toxic metal, has been detected for the past several years in the fish tissue around Georgia.

MACON, Ga. (WGXA) -- March has started wet as the 26th wettest on record out of 126 years with more storms and heavy rain on the way. A Weather Warn Day is issued by the Skywatch Weather Team from 7 p.m. Friday to Saturday at noon for the potential of storms to produce damaging winds that could knock down trees or powerlines and for isolated tornadoes. The biggest risk with this system will be for flooding of rivers, creeks, and streams as well as ponding on the roads.

It's to make up for the uneven revolution of the Earth around the Sun. Many know that one year, or revolution around the sun, is 365 days. However, this is not completely true. It is around 365.2422 days to make one full revolution. So, every four years we add a day to the calendar to make up for that extra time.

MACON, Ga. (WGXA) -- After the wettest 2 days in Macon since April of 2022 and over 5 inches of rain, 393,429 gallons of sewage overflowed around Macon-Bibb county. Some of the rivers affected were the Ocmulgee, Lower Rocky Creek, and Wolf Creek. March of 2020 was another large inundation of sewage overflowing with over 1 million gallons around Macon-Bibb. The largest spill this time around was on Riverside drive with over 161,000 gallons escaping into the Ocmulgee river.

MACON, Ga. (WGXA) -- Monday, severe storms are possible as a low pressure cuts to our north and west. This pulls up warm, moist air off the Gulf of Mexico and extra storm energy for cells to be strong producing damaging winds or a brief tornado. Tornadoes will be possible ahead of the main cold front starting as early 6 a.m. Monday. Damaging winds will become more likely once the cold front pushes through around mid day.
