    ORLANDO, Fla. — Law enforcement authorities are making arrangements for a day of nationwide protests that is scheduled for Saturday. More than a dozen demonstrations are planned across major Central Florida cities, with at least one organized protest planned in Volusia, Seminole, Orange, Lake, Osceola and Brevard counties. According to organizers, a protest scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. outside Orlando City Hall is expected to draw more than 1,000 people.

    TAVARES, Fla. — Thursday marked one week since now-suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez was arrested. He’s accused of protecting and expanding a multimillion-dollar illegal gambling operation in Lake and Osceola counties. As of Thursday, Lopez had not posted his $1 million bail and remains in the Lake County Jail while three of his co-defendants were released on bail. Sheldon Wetherholt, 58, is among the three co-defendants who have bailed out.

    One week after now-suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez was arrested on accusations of protecting and expanding a multimillion-dollar illegal gambling enterprise, he remain in jail on $1 million bail. Three of his co-defendants who have been arrested have all bailed out, including Sharon Fedrick. Court documents show Fedrick will soon be back before a judge in Orange County in a separate case.

    The third co-defendant arrested in the racketeering case of suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez did not stay in jail long. Sheldon Wetherholt was booked into the Lake County jail Wednesday morning. He posted his $100,000 bail that afternoon. Wetherholt faces the same same racketeering and conspiracy to commit racketeering charges as the other four defendants, including Lopez.

    SANFORD, Fla. — Sanford Police are asking the community to come forward with information on a hit-and-run that nearly killed a toddler. 3-year-old Harmonie Rose Bryant has been fighting for her life at Arnold Palmer hospital, since she was hit on Persimmon Avenue in the Goldsboro neighborhood on Thursday. According to her family, the toddler is in stable condition, but she had brain bleeding and multiple fractures to her skull and pelvis.
