May 8, 2025 Columbia has many safety programs throughout the campus, including the very recognizable blue light phones, but one of the services that they provide often goes overlooked. Many students are not aware of the more than 100 red phones that connect directly to campus security. As Ronald Sodini, the associate vice president of Campus Safety and Security, told the Chronicle, when new students go to orientation, they are shown a slide about the system.

Osgood Perkins’ sixth horror film as director, “The Monkey,” inspired by Stephen King’s short story from the 1980 collection “Skeleton Crew,” invites audiences to embrace their fears with a twist of dark humor. While it may fall short on emotional depth or thematic weight, the film more than makes up for it with its playful approach and sheer entertainment value.

After Microsoft cut the amount of free storage granted to educational institutions, Columbia will have to reduce the 1TB that students, faculty and staff currently have or pay extra. “The college will be assessing its future storage plans with heavy consideration to students’ needs as well as those of faculty and staff,” said Lambrini Lukidis, associate vice president of Strategic Communications and External Relations. The change will happen in October 2026, Lukidis said.
