    TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Data from the Tallahassee Police Department indicates that gun violence declined in 2024, compared to the previous year. There were 76 people shot in the capital city in 2024, compared to 92 in 2023. That’s according to data WCTV acquired earlier this month. TPD data from last month shows that the overall number of shooting incidents, including those in which no one was injured, remained consistent, at about 200.

(WCTV) - Around 500 business and political leaders from the Capitol City are gathering this weekend at an island getaway in a swanky hotel, but this isn’t a vacation, it’s the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce Conference.     TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Some people in Suwannee County are cut off from their homes due to flooding from Hurricane Debby. A stretch of road in Live Oak near Suwannee Lake is at least three feet deep. James Santandrea lives along the road and said his home has about two feet of water inside. Everything from his cabinets to furniture has been ruined by the floodwaters.

    MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) - Flooding from Debby is threatening homes and businesses as water continues to rise days after the storm soaked the Big Bend. Ragans Family Campground in Madison County was forced to shut down temporarily due to excessive flooding, with picnic tables, benches and grills partially submerged in the waters. Campground manager Edward Carlick said the campground experienced minor flooding during Hurricane Debby, which he thought would be the worst of it.

    LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) - Comfort stations opened across the Big Bend, including Lafayette County, this week to assist residents impacted by Hurricane Debby. Nearly 60% of residents still have no power, according to the electric companies who service the area. Some residents shared that they’re still dealing with storm damage from Hurricane Idalia last year.
