CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cleveland City Council President Blaine Griffin won’t run for the mayor’s seat this November, which means the list of serious challengers to current Mayor Justin Bibb’s reelection continues to shrink. Griffin will instead run for reelection in the newly drawn Ward 6, he told cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer on Friday. He said he’ll wait to see which 15 people win council seats before he decides whether to run again as council president.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland is going to tell employers what they’re allowed to ask job applicants and how they must advertise job openings. And yes, it’s legal. City Council and Mayor Justin Bibb recently passed a pay equity law that requires employers to post salary ranges when advertising open jobs. It also bars them from asking job applicants about their current salary. Both infractions could lead to fines of up to $5,000, though city officials say that’s a last resort.

Fire station 30 in Glenville was temporarily closed Sunday evening because of water leaks, city spokesman Tyler Sinclair said. A hazmat contractor has been brought in to make sure the building is safe and to see if any remediation or abatement is needed.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — After using tax incentives to spur Bedrock’s downtown construction near Tower City Center, Cleveland is considering the same plan for its East Side neighborhoods, Mayor Justin Bibb said Monday. At the same time, Bibb said Cleveland City Hall must reform its own processes so The hope is also to bring that process online sometime this year. The two changes were made public during an event Bibb headlined Monday, kicking off the meeting of the National Housing Crisis Task Force.
