QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles won the championship game of the the MHSAA Division 3 Girls Soccer District they hosted Saturday morning, as they defeated Olivet 2-1. Quincy will take a 19-4 record into their Regional Semifinal matchup against Grand Rapids Covenant Christian Tuesday afternoon at 5 p.m. at Fennville High School. The winner will face either Allegan or Three Rivers for the Regional title on Thursday.

UNDATED (WTVB) – Of the nineteen individuals and six relay teams from Branch County that qualified for the MHSAA Lower Peninsula Track and Field Finals, ten individuals and two relay teams came back with medals Saturday and received All-State recognition after finishing in the the top eight in their respective events. Coldwater’s girls track team brought home five medals from the Division 2 Finals at Hamilton. Ella Grabowski finished third in the long jump.

BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater didn’t allow a run all day Saturday as they won an MHSAA Division 2 Softball District championship at Harper Creek High School. The Cardinals shut out Marshall 13-0 in five innings in the Semifinal and blanked the host Beavers 8-0 in the District Final. Against Marshall, Laynie VanAken allowed two hits and one walk while striking out 14. Mackenzie Searing was 3-for-3 hitting, including a double, and drove in five runs.

MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater fell to Parma Western 7-6 in the championship game of the MHSAA Division 2 Baseball District at Marshall’s Joe Cooper Field after getting past Jackson Northwest 4-3 in 14 innings in the District Semifinals. In the District Final against Western, the Cardinals scored four runs in the sixth to tie the game at 6-6.

UNDATED (WTVB) – As busy as some days have been this April and May in terms of scheduled or rescheduled high school sports events, this Saturday, May 31st, may be the busiest of them all. All of Branch County’s schools will be competing in MHSAA Baseball and Softball District tournaments, Quincy will be playing for a Girls Soccer District title, and the Lower Peninsula Track and Field Finals will take place in the greater Grand Rapids area.
