But the Bronson Viking baseball and softball teams made the long road trip to Maple Valley and came away with three victories. Baseball: Bronson 1, Maple Valley 0Carson Stevens threw a one-hit shutout with three walks and 10 strikeouts as Bronson blanked defending Big 8 champion Maple Valley 1-0 in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader.

BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater traveled to the Binder Park Golf Course on Monday to play in the first Interstate 8 Jamboree of the season. The Cardinals finished in fifth place with a team score of 370; Harper Creek won with a team score of 313. Sophomore Dracyn Foster led Coldwater with a round of 78, which was good for fourth place individually. Joseph Searls shot a 99, Colten Calhoun had a 103, Braydon Wilkins shot a 105, and Cooper Otto finished with a 109.

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Senior Elli Foley was voted by her teammates Most Valuable Player for the Coldwater Cardinal girls basketball team. The recognition came during the annual team banquet held Sunday afternoon at the Lakeland Elementary cafeteria. In other awards voted on by team members, sophomore Paisley Harvey was named Most Improved Player and also received the Coach’s Award, while junior Danika Cox won the Leadership Award and was named Most Sportsmanlike.

UNDATED (WTVB) – Saturday was a busy day on baseball diamonds throughout the area, as Coldwater, Quincy, and Union City each saw action. Coldwater at Pat Lowe Memorial InvitationalCOLDWATER, MI – Coldwater went 1-2 at its own Pat Lowe Memorial Invitational, losing to Mason 6-3 and to Three Rivers 14-5. The Cardinals earned their first victory of the season as they held off Niles Brandywine 6-5.

QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Track teams from Bronson, Coldwater, and Union City traveled to Quincy High School Saturday for the annual Branch County Invitational. No team score was kept, and no medals were awarded, but Coldwater dominated the meet, winning 12 of the 17 boys events and 11 of the 17 girls events.
