A woman has been taken to hospital after a car flipped onto its roof in a Huddersfield street. West Yorkshire Police were called at 3.28pm after a crash involving two cars in Newsome Road. One of the two cars was stationary. One of the cars overturned after the collision. The driver, a woman, was checked over at the scene before she was taken to the hospital for treatment. A car can be seen turned onto its roof on Newsome Road.
Police release statement after 'incident' closes Sheffield road

South Yorkshire Police has released a statement after a road was closed in Sheffield on Wednesday afternoon. Barnsley Road was closed from Norwood Road junction to the Tesco Express during the afternoon of Wednesday, May 14. The road was closed in both directions and eyewitnesses reported seeing a police cordon with a bus inside with its hazard lights on. A number of police were on scene at the site of the police cordon.

A Huddersfield road has been closed after a car overturned onto its roof. Images of the scene show a large number of West Yorkshire Police officers in Newsome Road in Huddersfield. It is understood they have been on the scene since around 4.30pm on Wednesday, May 14. The closure is near to Tunnicliffe Road and just below Dawson Road. There, a car can be seen turned onto its roof. A second car has also sustained damage at the scene of the crash.
Police ban drones over West Yorkshire city amid 'operation'

Airspace restrictions are to be put in place over Bradford tomorrow to allow for a police operation in the city. These restrictions mean drones can not be flown in certain areas of Bradford between 8am and 4pm on Thursday, May 15. This is to allow for a 'police operation' in the city. If you fly a drone in these areas between the specified hours, West Yorkshire Police have warned that you will be committing an offence under the Air Navigation Order 2016.

The victim of a monster who groomed a primary school boy before raping him repeatedly over several years has told him the 'gates of hell are waiting'. Evil Stephen John Mitchell plied the boy, who was in primary school at the start of the abuse, with food and cartoons before going on to rape and sexually abuse him repeatedly over several years. In a moving victim impact statement the victim, now an adult, told Mitchell: "You no longer control me, and you cannot destroy me or my family.
Live as Sheffield road closed in 'police incident'

Barnsley Road has been closed in Sheffield as a number of police are on the scene. According to Sheffield Online, Barnsley Road is closed in both directions in Sheffield due to a police incident near to Crabtree Pond. This goes from Norwood Road down to the Tesco Express. A bus is within the police cordon with hazard lights on, as a number of other buses remain parked nearby. It is not yet known why the area has been closed off. South Yorkshire Police has been contacted for comment.
'Danger to women' Halifax rapist behind bars for 'truly awful' sex crimes

A Halifax man has been jailed for multiple sexual offences including rape. Adil Zafar, 44 and from Halifax, was described as a danger to women by detectives after he was sentenced to 18 years in prison at Bradford Crown Court on Friday, May 9. He was found guilty by jury of three offences of rape, strangulation, sexual assault by penetration and coercive and controlling behaviour. He also admitted to a criminal damage offence.
Batley horror car crash driver jailed after woman, 69, mowed down

A man has been jailed following a woman's death in a fatal Batley car crash. Carol Andrew was crossing White Lee Road in Batley on the evening of July 22, 2021, when she was hit by a grey Seat Leon. The 69-year-old woman suffered serious injuries in the crash and died at the scene. Tasham Mahmood was the driver and was arrested at the scene.
