HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Officials with the U.S. Marshals Southern District of West Virginia CUFFED Task Force and West Virginia State Police reported the results of Operation Early Spring. Operation Early Spring was a weeklong operation targeting non-complaint sex offenders in Cabell County and the surrounding areas. Between March 18, 2024 and March 22, 122 sex offenders compliance checks were performed by West Virginia State Police.

WHEELING, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Officials with the Wheeling Police Department reported an arrest was made after an early morning car chase. On Monday, March 25, 2024 at approximately 1:45a.m. Wheeling Police Department officers were called to the 2500 block of Eoff Street for a welfare check. When officers arrived at the address, a man left the area in a car.

WYOMING/MONROE/MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Officials with the West Virginia Division of Forestry reported active brushfires in several West Virginia counties. A member from the West Virginia Division of Forestry’s Radio Room confirmed brush fires at Coal Mountain and RD Bailey Lake in Wyoming County, a brushfire in the Iaeger area in McDowell County and another brushfire in the Hope’s Mill area of Monroe County.

WHEELING, WV (LOOTPRESS) — The Wheeling Police Department is investigating two separate injury related crimes that occurred on Sunday, March 18, 2024. According to the Wheeling Police Department, on Sunday at approximately 6p.m., a man reported to the Emergency Room with a gunshot wound. When police questioned the man, he claimed he was struck in the head and then suffered a gun-shot wound in his shoulder area.

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Deputy Ingram with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department reported they are searching for a missing Lincoln County woman. Anita Breedlove, of Sumerco, WV was believed to be last seen in the Tornado or Alum Creek area of Kanawha County at approximately 2a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024. Breedlove’s family was notified by a friend that Anita was without a cellphone and needed picked up from the Childress Road area.

Some of the worst tragedies in the nation occurred in West Virginia coal mines.
