Two children of Jeanne Kay Whitefeather, 63, and Donald Ray Lantz, 61, are suing the couple for the abuse the couple inflicted on them. The oldest daughter, now 18, sued them earlier this year. This lawsuit is being brought by an adoptive parent of the children. In January, the couple were found guilty on 31 counts relating to the treatment of four of their five adopted Black children. They were charged with 35 counts.

A former inmate at South Central Regional Jail is suing the correctional facility’s health provider for failing to treat his broken leg. Joseph Trent Jones, a West Virginia resident, broke his leg on March 19, 2023, and was taken into custody the same day, according to the lawsuit filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.

A Charleston woman pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder for stabbing Abigail Marcinkowsky 27 times in January 2023. She was sentenced to 40 years in prison — the maximum sentence for the crime. Amber Kay Wymer, 43, was initially charged with first-degree murder. In December 2023, she agreed to a second-degree murder plea. However, the plea was withdrawn by the state over objections from Wymer’s attorneys.

In a lengthy complaint filed in Kanawha County Circuit Court, Cahill alleges that he was forced out by the administration of former Gov.
