In the two months since Modere, a Utah-based multilevel marketing company, abruptly shut down, a picture of the company's finances has started to take form. Modere and its executives have not filed for bankruptcy. Shaklee, a nutritional supplement company in Florida, has bought most of the company's assets, according to a news release issued May 23.

The people who have been working for the last 16 years to open a customer-owned grocery in Utah are closer to seeing their dream finally happen. All they need now, said the head of the Wasatch Food Co-op, is around $2 million. "It's just a matter of time," said Stephanie Buranek, the co-op's board chair. The Wasatch Food Co-op is set to be the anchor tenant of development on the Milk Block, from 402 East to 430 East - and a fixture of the neighborhood around it on Salt Lake City's 900 South.

Traffic has gotten worse in northern Utah in recent months. That's partially because many of the more than 20,000 employees at Hill Air Force Base - one of Utah's largest employers - are driving to work again. President Donald Trump's executive order requiring federal employees to return to offices is "reshaping the way we use our workforce," said Colonel Meghan Szwarc, deputy commander for 75th Air Base Wing.

A new greenhouse at Perennial Favorites, a wholesale plant nursery in Layton, is the last waiting place for thousands of lilies, petunias, geraniums and other plants before they're shipped out to buyers across the Intermountain West. A warehouse would have been cheaper to build and operate, said Perennial CEO Cort Cox. But the greenhouse keeps both plants and employees cool in the hot summer months, and protects them from the elements in harsher weather.
