A new greenhouse at Perennial Favorites, a wholesale plant nursery in Layton, is the last waiting place for thousands of lilies, petunias, geraniums and other plants before they're shipped out to buyers across the Intermountain West. A warehouse would have been cheaper to build and operate, said Perennial CEO Cort Cox. But the greenhouse keeps both plants and employees cool in the hot summer months, and protects them from the elements in harsher weather.

Nate Jones says he was almost ashamed to see a 2020 study from the University of Tennessee that showed nasal sprays made with xylitol - a sugar alcohol found in plants - block the virus that causes COVID-19 from attaching to cells. The study's finding that xylitol showed "antiviral activity" was proof, Jones thought, that such nasal sprays could prevent and help treatCOVID-19.

Utahns' electric bills are about to get a little more expensive. Nearly a year after first asking Utah's Public Service Commission (PSC) to approve a rate increase that would amount to $667.3 million additional annual revenue, the commission ruled Friday to instead approve a $87.2 million sum. That will amount to an average increase of $4.31 per month for single-family households and $3.31 for multi-family households, effective immediately.

A historic federal building in Provo is newly on a list of assets that the President Donald Trump administration is looking to sell. The J. Will Robinson Federal Building was listed Monday as an "asset for accelerated disposition," meaning it is eligible to be sold soon as part of the administration's push to cut federal spending. The building is currently a Social Security office and is on the National Registry of Historic Places.
