DAVENPORT, Iowa — May 23 marks World Turtle Day, and at Nahant Marsh, conservationists are celebrating with purpose: by continuing a long-running research effort to protect one of the Midwest’s most threatened native species — the Blanding’s turtle. Known for their highly domed shells, bright yellow necks and perpetual smiles, Blanding’s turtles are considered endangered in Illinois and listed as a threatened species of greatest conservation need in Iowa.

HUDSON, Ill. — A summer camp designed specifically for kids living with epilepsy is returning to Central Illinois this June, offering not just a place to zip-line and kayak, but a chance to connect with others who truly understand what it’s like to live with seizures. camPossible!, hosted by the Epilepsy Advocacy Network in partnership with Easterseals' Timber Pointe Outdoor Center, will take place June 10–12 in Hudson. It's open to children and teens ages 7 to 18.
