BETTENDORF, Iowa — A Bettendorf Middle School student received a national award for a documentary he made. Adrian Gillette, a seventh grader, was recently awarded the bronze medal in the junior documentary category at the National History Day competition in Washington, D.C. His 10-minute film focused on Island Trees Union Free School District v. Pico, the only school book banning case ever heard by the U.S. Supreme Court.

LE CLAIRE, Iowa — The Wild West is riding back into town later this month as the Buffalo Bill Museum hosts its annual “Buffalo Bill’s Best of the Wild West” event June 28–29 at Cody Elementary School in LeClaire. It's the largest fundraiser of the year for the town's Buffalo Bill Museum. Families can expect a weekend filled with trick shots, horseback riding stunts, and historical reenactments featuring legendary figures like Annie Oakley, Buck Taylor, and Buffalo Bill himself.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — The annual Quad City Arts Public Sculpture Program is back with a record-high 34 sculptures. The program first began in 2002. It leases sculptures from artists across the nation, which are then on public display across the region for one full year. The sculptures are installed in publicly accessible locations. All of the art pieces will be available for purchase once the lease is up in June 2026, with some from previous exhibits now permanently on display throughout the region.
