AbstractHuman tumors are diverse in their natural history and response to treatment, which in part results from genetic and transcriptomic heterogeneity. In clinical practice, single-site needle biopsies are used to sample this diversity, but cancer biomarkers may be confounded by spatiogenomic heterogeneity within individual tumors.

Often times, the best part of going out is getting ready at home with the girls, and the Wilma’s “Rocky Horror Show LIVE!” brought the same energy with music, screaming and plenty of alcohol. Skyleigh Thompson has been playing soccer since around age three after watching her sister play and wanting to follow in her footsteps. In high school, Thompson played soccer, track and basketball, but soccer always stood out as her favorite. Thompson, a 22-year-old from Kalispell, is a standout athlete on the Montana Griz soccer team, and has been since she joined in 2021.

In an attempt to accommodate for more parking, the University of Montana cut into campus recreation. UM recently expanded parking lot F by eliminating eight of the nine tennis courts that were between the University Center and Aber Hall. Now, there will be only one tennis court and three pickleball courts. The pickleball and tennis clubs were the main student-focused clubs that used these courts alongside the Griz tennis team who used it in the fall in previous years.

AbstractPatient-derived xenograft (PDX) models are widely used in cancer research. To investigate the genomic fidelity of non-small cell lung cancer PDX models, we established 48 PDX models from 22 patients enrolled in the TRACERx study. Multi-region tumor sampling increased successful PDX engraftment and most models were histologically similar to their parent tumor.

After a lackluster 2023 season, the Griz softball team is still struggling to make gains with a 14-23 overall record. However, the team is seeing some exciting potential in University of Montana freshman Riley Peschek. Peschek is currently in her first year on the team. She is a 19-year-old from Fox Island, Washington, majoring in business administration. Forty-two percent of the team is made up of players from Washington with two of the three freshmen this year from the state.

Both the Griz men’s basketball team and Lady Griz had successful regular seasons, but fell short in the Big Sky Conference Tournament held in Boise, Idaho, from March 9-13. As the Griz went into its first game as the three seed, it clawed its way to a close 87-81 win over the number six seed Portland State University. This win pushed Montana into the semi-final matchup against eight seed Idaho State University.

A staple of University of Montana gamedays, the 24-person UM Cheer team, always shows up with stunts prepared to get the crowd loud and rally support the Grizzlies. The cheer squad has two main seasons: football and basketball. Both seasons involve multiple practices during the week, including conditioning, strength training and sometimes even community appearances. UM Cheer starts its year off on Aug. 1.
