Dizzee Rascal delighted Geordie fans when he visited a Newcastle record store to sign copies of his new album. The 'Bonkers' hitmaker held a special event at Reflex record store on Nun Street in the city centre on Tuesday night (February 13) to mark the release of his new album, 'Don't Take It Personally.'The event, advertised on his Instagram page, drew a large number of fans who queued out the door to meet the rapper.

A huge crowd turned out in Alnwick to take part in one of Northumberland's most unusual traditions on Shrove Tuesday. The annual Shrovetide Football match, known locally as Scoring the Hales, took place in the fields surrounding Alnwick Castle today (February 13) between the rival parishes of St. Michael and St. Paul. The event has been going for 206 years and sees participants attempt to score the most hales, which are like football goals, but are taller than they are wide.

A man remains in a serious condition in hospital after being allegedly poisoned in Newcastle. GP Thomas Kwan appeared at Newcastle Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, February 7, charged with the attempted murder of a man in his 70s. The 52-year-old is alleged to have carried out the suspected poisoning in the St Thomas Street area of Newcastle city centre on January 24. Northumbria Police have previously said that the alleged victim is not one of Kwan's patients.
