PAINTED POST, N.Y. (WETM) — Families gathered for a Mother’s Day Brunch held at The Y at Watson Woods, where mothers received a gift in their honor on Sunday. Dining slots quickly filled on Sunday, May 11, from 10 a.m. through noon, with more than 300 people registered and the 11 a.m. time slot sold out. Some of the families attended in large groups, one with 25 people, according to one of the organizers.

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — A group of female volunteers dedicated their day in the Chemung County Habitat for Humanity Women Build event to assist in refurbishing two homes in Elmira. More than 50 volunteers worked on two, two-story homes to deconstruct parts of the properties and add in essentials. As shown in the images above, volunteers at a home on Norton Street participated in various improvement tasks, including removing an old shed and a front porch.

CORNING, N.Y. (WETM) — A sold-out brunch fundraiser with more than 100 attendees helps raise money for CareFirstNY. The fundraiser, Brunch in Bloom, was held at The Pines event venue in Corning. It featured a brunch buffet and community-donated items from local businesses around Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben Counties. Patrons purchased tickets in hopes of winning some of the raffled items and took part in a live auction which helped provide additional funding.

The event called “Race for Caitlin” was assembled for people to walk or run laps at the high school track to support Caitlin Buchanan.
