    CHICAGO — Block Club Chicago, a nonprofit, reader-funded newsroom focused on Chicago’s neighborhoods, was nominated for 17 local journalism awards Friday. The Peter J. Lisagor Awards are presented by the Chicago Headline Club, the local branch of the Society of Professional Journalists.

    CHICAGO — Maple Walker Lloyd, Block Club Chicago’s senior director of development, was named Nonprofit News Emerging Leader of the Year by the Institute for Nonprofit News at an award ceremony in Atlanta Wednesday night. INN’s annual Nonprofit News Awards celebrate the best journalism and best leaders in nonprofit news. The awards are open to the more than 450 newsrooms in the INN Network around the country. Walker Lloyd joined the Block Club team in 2019, a year after the newsroom’s founding.
