Steven Sumner was arrested in December 2020. At the time, the Republican was serving his second term on the Madison County Council, owned a local small business, and was listed as the pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church.

    July 31, 2024 The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado was responsible for the damage to the Frankton-Lapel Schools Administration Building on Monday night. On Tuesday afternoon, a weather service preliminary statement rates the tornado as an EF2. The service says it began in Hamilton County as an EF0 tornado, damaging a metal barn and a home.

    A state tourism-sponsored study on April’s eclipse tourism says Indiana saw more than 3.5 million visitors to see the solar eclipse. But it also shows most of those tourists were already from Indiana and moving around the state to view the eclipse. The studysays the total economic impact of the total eclipse was $145.8 million, with $45 million of that total coming from federal, state, and local taxes.
