AN investigation is underway after a prisoner died in an Irish jail this morning, the Irish Sun has learned. The inmate was found unresponsive in his cell this morning at The Midlands Prison, in Portlaoise, Co Laois. It is believed that the lag died from a suspected overdose. However, the official cause of death will be determined at a later date by the Coroner’s Office. A spokesperson for the Irish Prison Service confirmed the tragic death.

SEVEN major burglary gangs are currently operating across Ireland, the Irish Sun can reveal. Five of the main mobs are based in Dublin, one in Kildare and one in Limerick. They operate by using high powered cars to travel to isolated areas and place properties under surveillance. Once identified, they then force their way into homes and steal cash and jewellery. One source said: "There has been a lot of successes against these organised crime groups but they are still active.

DEPRAVED killer Daniel Blanaru hid recording devices in his partner’s home to secretly monitor her conversations, The Irish Sun on Sunday can reveal. Blanaru, 37, placed the items under the beds of rooms in Larisa Serban’s home as part of his efforts to “coercively control” the mother of three. This was before he killed her at the property in Rathmore, Athboy, Co Meath, on August 12, 2022.

EVIL killer Daniel Blanaru previously tried to strangle another woman before eventually murdering his partner, according to her grieving brother. And the heartbroken sibling of Larisa Serban, 27, branded the killer a “demon devoid of any humanity” after their victim impact statements were read to the Central Criminal Court yesterday. Larisa’s younger brother Remus, also 27, told how his sister was “tortured, beaten, betrayed and murdered” by the man who was meant to protect her.
