Jake joined the Literature Research Division at SRI International, formerly the Stanford Research Institute, in 1960, after a stint indexing chemical compounds at Chemical Abstracts Service.

Wikipedia tells us that Jake’s story is a common tale of distraction and unfulfilled dreams. But not all such tales are sad. Elizabeth “Jake” Feinler was aiming for a PhD in biochemistry at Purdue University.
