Early morning fire destroys Somerset County Building

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) -- An early morning fire has destroyed an old apartment building in Somerset County. The fire started just before 5:30 Tuesday morning in Boswell on the 400 block of Morris Avenue in Boswell. Officials say upon arrival, flames were shooting out of the top floor windows. Boswell Fire Chief Chad Snyder tells 6 News that no one was injured in the fire.
Late night fire at Bedford VFW causes significant damage; no injuries reported

BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — A fire late Thursday night has left a Bedford County VFW significantly damaged. Officials tell 6 News that fire started around 11 o'clock at the Bedford VFW Post #7527 along Business 220 in Bedford Borough. First responders say the fire was put out within 20 minutes, but that the flames started in the bar area, with that portion of the building suffering significant damage. The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries have been reported.

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) -- A morning traffic collision has left several people injured and closed a major roadway ahead of the morning rush. Centre County dispatch says the crash happened just after 6:15 Monday morning on the Mount Nittany Expressway / US-322 in Harris Township near Boal Avenue. Dispatch says initial reports say multiple victims are being treated for injuries following an accident involving a tractor trailer and a pickup truck.
Firefighter injured, one missing in overnight Somerset County fire

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. – (WJAC) One person is unaccounted for, and a firefighter has been injured following an house fire in Somerset County overnight. Officials say they responded to a call of a fire in progress on the 900 block of Lohr Street in Central City around 1 o'clock Tuesday morning. Video from the scene shows the home's interior has completely collapsed as a result of that fire, and fire crews remain on scene at this hour.
Active police investigation underway near Huntingdon County Courthouse

HUNTINGDON COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Police say an active investigation is being conducted in the area surrounding the Huntington County Courthouse. On a post on their Facebook page, the Huntingdon Borough Police Department says the public is not in any danger, and that more information will be released. The investigation is being conducted in the 200 block of Penn Street, and has left the roadway closed from 2nd Street to 4th Street.
Firefighters battle morning house fire in Somerset County

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) -- Firefighters battled a two-alarm house fire in Somerset County Tuesday morning. Central City Fire Department Chief Don Beltz says the fire broke out in the rear of a single family home on 3rd Street in Cairnbrook. He says at least three residents, along with their pets, were able to escape before first responders arrived. First responders say they arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the rear of the building.
County Coroner called to overnight Johnstown shooting, investigation ongoing

An overnight shooting in Johnstown led to the County Coroner being called to the scene. Officials were called to the 100 block of Sheridan Street in Johnstown around 11:45 P.M. Sunday night to reports of a shooting. Officials say EMS was initially brought in for a victim shot to the abdomen at the location, but say the Coroner was later called to the scene. Dispatch says there were no other injuries, and and shooter remains on the loose.

One Brockway man says he conducted his own tests of the water at his business. What he says he found was concerning. Residents of Brockway were then informed that further testing conducted by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) confirmed a high level of asbestos in Brockway’s water supply. That measurement, 11 million fibers per liter, which is beyond the federal standard of 7 million fibers per liter.
