PUNTA MALDONADO, Mexico – Extremely dangerous Hurricane Erick made landfall along Mexico’s southwestern coast as a Category 3 storm Thursday morning, unleashing destructive wind, torrential rain, life-threatening flooding and potentially deadly storm surge, mudslides and landslides. Hurricane Erick made landfall around 7:30 a.m. ET near Punta Maldonado, Mexico, with maximum sustained winds of 125 mph, making it a strong Category 3 hurricane.
