WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah – The Forsyth Fire continues to burn thousands of acres in Utah and was officially started by a lightning strike, officials said. Firefighters have been battling the wildfire since it was discovered on June 19. It has now burned 8,899 acres and is uncontained. The Dixie National Forest division of the U.S. Forest Service announced Tuesday that the fire was caused when lightning hit a tree.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Two people have been bitten by a shark in less than a week at Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. According to Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue, the latest shark attack happened Sunday when a person was bitten in the leg at Coligny Beach Park. Their injuries were not life-threatening, and they were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Video from Wednesday shows two officers quickly snagging a small alligator from beneath a car in the parking lot of a church. PINE VALLEY, Utah – A wildfire burning in the mountains of southern Utah has reportedly destroyed 17 homes and forced numerous evacuations. The Forsyth Fire began on Thursday near Pine Valley, Utah and quickly spread to 1,500 acres by Friday. It remains uncontained. The cause of the fire is unknown. Washington County Sheriff Nate Brooksby confirmed on Facebook that 17 homes were destroyed on Friday when winds changed quickly.
