BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC/Gray News) - A man in South Carolina had to be airlifted to the hospital after he was bitten by an alligator Wednesday morning. According to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, the man was injured in the Sun City Subdivision in Beaufort County around 10 a.m.The man was reportedly working in his yard when the gator bit him, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Tuesday evening, the Savannah Police Department announced that Liberty Parkway closed between Arcadian Street and Vassar Street due to a crash. On the scene, Alderwoman Bernetta Lanier told WTOC that this situation is a fatality involving a police officer. Neighbors near the scene told us they saw a chase at a very high speed go down Liberty Parkway. The Chatham County Coroner confirmed the fatality and identified the victim as 60-year-old Darren Lewis.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - We are continuing to cover the four separate shootings and one shots fired call in Savannah over the weekend. Check out the map below- here’s a look at where each of the shootings happened, all very close together. All of these shootings happened within a span of two days. In the Savannah area there have been four shootings in total- leaving three dead and two injured. Savannah Police said they have arrested one individual so far in connection to these shootings.

JASPER COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - Monday, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home in Ridgeland after a report of a sexual assault that had just occurred. Once on the scene, deputies spoke with the 10-year-old victim and her grandmother. Jasper County Sheriff’s Office said through investigation, they determined that the 10-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by the grandmother’s boyfriend, 59-year-old Tomas Salmeron Parra of Ridgeland.
