A postal worker was robbed at gunpoint in a Raleigh apartment complex, according to documents in the case obtained by WRAL. Aaron Jerome Worthy, 25, and Brian Marcell Thomas, 24, face charges of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and possessing five or more counterfeit instruments. Warrants say the two plotted with an unknown person to commit robbery. A United States Postal Service key, a Samsung cell phone and $500 were stolen.

Melanie Walker says she's been visiting Lake Crabtree County Park for nearly three decades. "It's got beautiful trails which so many different people use," said Walker. "I generally walk along the lake or on the trails."The days of walking on some of the trails are now numbered as Lake Crabtree County Park announced Thursday that the multiuse trails north of the park's main road will permanently close on June 1. "I'm still furious. I cannot believe that people have made this decision," said Walker.

Joe Bronstein frequents the trails around Lake Johnson in Raleigh. While he enjoys talking with fellow hikers, there are other creatures he's wary of this time of year. "I'm definitely on the lookout for them," Bronstein said. Biologists at the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission say as the temperature increase, so do the amount of snakes near trails and gardens.

The North Carolina House Transportation Committee has advanced a bill that could get teen drivers on the road faster. House Bill 584 would temporarily allow 16 and 17-year-olds in the state to get a limited provisional, also known as a level two license after six months of holding a learner's permit. That's three months shorter than what the current law dictates. The bill would also cut a requirement that people under 18-years-old seeking a license get a letter from their school vouching for them.

The Raleigh Police Department's animal control unit is set to step up patrols on city greenway trails and in parks for unleashed pets, according to the division's supervisor. The increased enforcement of Raleigh's leash ordinance is set to begin May 12 and last until September 1. "We have had a few instances of unleashed dogs, whether it's biting a runner, jogger, or attacking someone else's pet that is leashed," said Miya Hurley, animal control supervisor.
