BEAUFORT, SC. (WTOC) - Violence has plagued the Garden Oaks apartments in Beaufort over the past several months. Police announced an arrest today in a recent shooting on May 28th that injured two people. 35-year-old Gasnel O’Bryan Miller was taken into custody on Saturday, May 31st. He’s facing several charges, including discharging a firearm into a vehicle. Tuesday, Beaufort police announced ramped-up enforcement at the complex after a spike in criminal activity.

APPLING COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigations announced that they have arrested and charged 18-year-old Ty’Relle Tarver with malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault in connection to the death of 41-year-old Jeremy Beckworth. Back on May 21st, the Baxley Police Department responded to a 911 call for a man that had been shot near the intersection of Highland Drive and Edgarton Road in Baxley.

BRYAN COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Hurricane season has officially started and Bryan County Emergency Management is reassuring its residents ahead of any major storms. WTOC sat down with the director for some insight and to learn how the department is preparing. Bryan County’s EMA Director Alli Padgett said coming into hurricane season, the department is in a good spot. The emergency operations plan is being approved by the county commission this week.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A former Army soldier at Fort Stewart has been convicted of sexually abusing two children. These assaults happened while on post, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Southern District of Georgia. 32-year-old Austin Michael Burak, originally from Oak Harbor, Washington, was convicted of Abusive Sexual Contact of a Child, or Attempt and Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child, or Attempt following jury trial.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - WTOC has obtained new surveillance video from last weekend’s shooting in Ellis Square. The video appears to show the shooting as it unfolded. We want to warn you, some viewers may find this video disturbing:You can see a group of people standing behind a parked truck when shots ring out. As people duck for cover, one man can be seen drawing a gun and running into the street to fire back. Savannah Police say four people were injured in the shooting.
