    STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - An investigation into child abuse claims at a Statesboro daycare is now on hold. WTOC first told you about the claims made against Eagles Nest Learning Center back in March. Statesboro Police explained Monday that there is not enough evidence in this case to file any criminal charges. The Eagles Nest Learning Center on North College Street in Statesboro received two complaints of possible child abuse back in March.

    SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The ex-wife of a Georgia Army veteran and the founder of a veteran-centered non-profit, Fighting the War Within, was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to fraudulently claiming her ex-husband’s benefits back in January. Miranda Briggs was sentenced to two months in prison and three years of supervision upon release. Briggs will also have to pay $129,360.98 in restitution to the government.

    BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC/Gray News) - A 9-year-old girl and her father were found dead in a car at a popular park in Georgia. On May 27, authorities responded to a call reporting an unresponsive child locked in a vehicle at Brooklet City Park, according to a news release. When officers arrived, they found a child, identified as 9-year-old Emily Grace Mayo, dead in the backseat with an apparent gunshot wound.

Investigators said she and her father were found dead in a car at a popular park Tuesday night. The GBI has confirmed that a little girl and her father were found dead inside their car in this parking lot around 7:45 p.m.The GBI identified the little girl as 9-year-old Emily Grace Mayo, who was found dead in the backseat with a gunshot wound.
