STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - The Georgia Southern Fraternity, Sigma Chi, raised more than $100,000 in one week all for cancer research. Georgia Southern’s Greek Life finished up Philanthropy week with a whopping 100 grand to send to the research center in Utah. This year’s funding is going to breast cancer research. The fraternity says they held a dance party, a car wash, and restaurant fundraisers. At the end of it all, they became one of the fraternity’s top-performing chapters.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Blake Beckworth and Taylor Smith, spent their Saturday night stranded on the 294-mile-long, Ogeechee River after their boat failed to return to River Retreat Boat ramp. The teens were out with a group of friends when their boat got separated from the others. Beckworth and Smith, lagging behind the group, accidentally took a wrong turn, heading in the opposite direction from where they had planned.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Some big news in the world for All-Star Cheerleading in Savannah. The Savannah Cheer gym is closing its doors after a 25-year stint. The gym signed an ‘intention to sell’ to Top Gun Cheerleading back in January. Savannah Cheer’s owner told WTOC that saying goodbye is not easy, but sometimes change is good.

HAZLEHURST, Ga. (WTOC) - A non-profit out of Halzehurst, opened amid Hurricane Helene, is scrambling after being told they have less than a month to find somewhere new to set up. Hearts to Hands is a donation run storefront. Anyone who is in need can come and find something and take it, no payment necessary. The organization’s owner, Danielle Marion, founded the company out of necessity, but that need is still there. It’s why finding a new location is her top priority.
