    BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - A plea hearing is happening Friday in the Bulloch County for the man accused of shooting a Statesboro police officer in 2024. Anthony Kent is accused of shooting Officer Joey DeLoach over a year ago in Statesboro. Statesboro police say DeLoach ordered a car break-in suspect at the Copper Beech Townhomes complex to get out of a car on April 16th. The suspect, Anthony Kent, exchanged gun fire with DeLoach before being taken into custody.

    HAZELHURST, Ga. (WTOC) - After 75 years, a war hero was laid to rest. A funeral service was held Saturday in Hazelhurst for Master Sergeant Luther Grace. He’s a Korean war veteran whose body was recently identified and returned home to Georgia. While from humble roots in Lumber City, Georgia, Grace traveled to lands overseas after joining the U.S. Army in 1940. He died in the name of freedom a decade later in Korea, leaving his body unidentified until last December.
