For many college students, working while enrolled is necessary to finance their education and cover their basic needs. Many students do it—about. College work experiences can also offer non-financial benefits to students. Working while in school can help students identify career interests, build skills and knowledge, and establish networks of peers and supervisors who could help with their post-graduation career trajectories.

Having a growth mindset, that is, believing that one’s current capabilities can be developed (Dweck, 1999), helps to maintain motivation for learning (Blackwell et al., 2007; Dweck & Leggett, 1988; see also Hong et al., 1999; Nussbaum & Dweck, 2008) and may promote academic achievement (Aronson et al., 2002; Blackwell et al., 2007; Good et al., 2003; Paunesku et al., 2015; Yeager et al., 2016).
