RIPLEY, W.Va. (WV News) -- When Dana Taylor came to speak to the Ripley City Council on June 17, she had a simple request. She wanted permission to hold a Walk to End Lupus, the first in West Virginia. What she received was wholehearted support for the cause, with council members voting unanimously to encumber $1,000 from fiscal year 2025-2026’s budget for a walk to take place in the fall. Taylor will co-chair the event with Councilman Rick Gobble.

RIPLEY, W.Va. (WV News) -- Samantha "Sam" McConaha and Bob Wilkinson seemed to have been destined to meet each other. It also seems inevitable that they would open a unique, eclectic shop in the heart of Ripley. The Last Roundup opened its doors on Friday, June 13, with a blue ribbon cutting and a welcoming atmosphere. The shop is hard to quantify. It is a collection of quirky items, a thrift store of sorts, an art collective, a second-hand clothing boutique, and, in essence, a step back in time.

RIPLEY, W.Va. (WV News) -- For the 59th time, Pam Bailey’s School of Dance students took the stage to share their talents and their joy in the annual spring recital. On June 14 and 15, choreography and music came together for ‘Books, Movies, Musicals and More.’ The musical selections ranged from George M. Cohan to Harry Potter, from The Wizard of Oz to My Fair Lady, from Oliver to 42nd Street. Each number was introduced by emcee John Ryder.
