Spokane and the Medicine Hat Tigers are battling head to head for the WHL Championship title. The series is tied 1-1 after the Chiefs won Game 2 in Alberta. SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs are continuing their WHL playoff run on the biggest stage yet: the WHL Championship Series.¬†Spokane swept Portland, 4-0, to earn the Western Conference title and a date with the Eastern Conference champs: the Medicine Hat Tigers.¬†The first two games of the championship series are in Medicine Hat, Alberta on Friday, May 9 and Sunday, May 11.

Former Washington State Cougar Cedric Coward, who was projected to be the biggest star on WSU's roster last season, will play for Duke in the 2025-26 campaign. Coward missed the majority of the 2024-25 season with the Cougs after receiving shoulder surgery for a torn labrum that happened just six games into non-conference play. Prior to the injury, Coward was WSU's top-scorer and regarded as one of the biggest play makers. In those six games, Coward averaged 17.7 points and seven rebounds per game.
