There was a very celebratory atmosphere inside of the Mary Herbert Education Center Wednesday evening, both before and after the USD 253 Board of Education’s regular meeting and there was no shortage of reasons as to why. Firstly, the board recognized and celebrated the district’s recent acknowledgement as a Capturing Kids Hearts National Showcase District with representatives of the seven district buildings which were named CKH National Showcase Schools this year.

Roof repairs are coming to Olpe and Hartford High Schools following action by the USD 252 Board of Education Monday. As part of their meeting, members approved just under $30,000 in roof work for Hartford and just over $50,000 for Olpe. This is just a small portion of roof work that is scheduled to take place over the course of the next several years according to Superintendent Ryan Muhlig.

Emporia State University is announcing changes in university leadership as part of its phased approach to improving the campus and operations. In a letter to the campus community on Tuesday, ESU President Ken Hush announced that the following leadership changes would become effective immediately.

Since late 2022, Emporia State University leadership has been heavily focused on increasing efficiency and streamlining operations on campus as part of a structural realignment effort, which has just recently entered a new phase. Phase III focuses on “Transformative change and program optimization” as outlined in a letter to the ESU campus from President Ken Hush Tuesday.
