According to an article published in February by a well-known French paper, Le Monde, The French Gymnastics Federation ruled that women gymnasts may wear shorts over leotards in competitions. Maine Rhythmic Gymnastics owner and instructor, Asya Vinokur, says wearing shorts during a gymnastics competition was not an option 20 years ago when she was performing.

On Saturday March 22nd from 1 pm to 5:30 pm, a free mental wellness event, The Healing Toolbox, will be held at the Kora Shrine Temple in Lewiston. The event is part of a senior project for Oxford Hills High School student, Maddie Oliveira. Oliveira organized the event, that will include a meet and greet, 3 guest speakers, and refreshments. Guest speakers will focus on understanding the human body when it comes to dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, and more.

On Wednesday March 19th a public hearing was held in the Judiciary Committee for the bill LD 1101. The bill is sponsored by Senator, Anne Carney. One aspect of the bill, would create eight legislative positions to include five highly qualified attorneys, two paralegals, and one administrative person. These attorneys would take on hard to refer or challenging to defend cases that have lead to a backlog.

A local nonprofit is working to help those in need, proving that it truly does take a village. It Takes a Village 207, founded by Becky Jackson and her mother, Journey, began as an effort out of the back of their car, bringing food directly to homeless communities and setting up tables at parks. "We try to be the village for the people who don't have that village and the support for people who need that support," Jackson said.
