    Students reported seeing officers, who are on scene for a “corpse/D.O.A.” incident, enter Scales Hall. 52 minutes ago Metro Nashville Police Department received a call at 11:30 a.m. CDT on April 12 at 2401 Vanderbilt Place, the address of Branscomb Quadrangle, which they responded to as a “corpse/D.O.A.” incident. Students walking past the area reported seeing several MNPD vehicles outside the building, and a detective wearing a homicide unit jacket was reportedly on scene.

    Former undergraduate student Douglas Norman filed a civil lawsuit against the university in Middle Tennessee’s federal district court on March 13, alleging he was falsely arrested by Vanderbilt University Public Safety on April 16, 2024, and that officers knowingly entrapped him into this arrest. This was Norman’s second arrest by VUPS following an initial arrest on Nov. 14, 2023.

    Antioch High School is on lockdown after shots were fired after 11:00 a.m. CST. The school is on Hobson Pike, approximately 18 miles southeast of Vanderbilt. Metro Nashville Schools announced the lockdown on X and that the Metro Nashville Police Department is on the active crime scene. According to police, the shots were fired in the cafeteria. Two students were shot by the suspect, who then turned the gun on himself.
