STREETERVILLE — On a snowy Saturday afternoon, several hundred people gathered outside Lurie Children’s Hospital to protest the hospital’s pause of gender-affirming surgeries for patients under 19. The rally at 225 E. Chicago Ave. drew many families impacted by President Donald Trump’s executive order attempting to ban gender-affirming care for trans youth and the subsequent decision of some healthcare providers to comply despite challenges to the ban’s constitutionality.
