CHICAGO — Tony’s Fresh Market employees overwhelmingly voted against joining a grocery union, according to the National Labor Relations Board on Friday. Earlier this week, workers for the company’s 21 stores voted in a union election facilitated by the federal agency. The vote was 1,115 against joining Local 881 of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union and 605 for unionizing, with a voter turnout of about 94 percent, according to the Chicago Tribune.

CHICAGO — More than 2,400 employees of Tony’s Fresh Market are deciding this week whether to unionize all 21 stores across Chicago and the suburbs. THE LOOP — About 200 workers and their allies gathered at Federal Plaza on a dangerously cold Tuesday afternoon to protest the Trump administration’s severe cuts to the federal workforce. STREETERVILLE — On a snowy Saturday afternoon, several hundred people gathered outside Lurie Children’s Hospital to protest the hospital’s pause of gender-affirming surgeries for patients under 19. The rally at 225 E. Chicago Ave. drew many families impacted by President Donald Trump’s executive order attempting to ban gender-affirming care for trans youth and the subsequent decision of some healthcare providers to comply despite challenges to the ban’s constitutionality.
