SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) – If you’re feeling under the weather, you might go to urgent care for treatment. But Springfield Clinic’s new facility aims to help more than just your typical cold or flu. “Our goal is to offer this hybrid opportunity for patients that may not necessarily need to go to a hospital setting or emergency room setting, but they need more than what traditional urgent care can provide for them,” Dr. DJ Goldberg, the co-medical director, said. It’s called Urgent Care Plus.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) – Governor Pritzker pitched his budget proposal for the upcoming fiscal year Wednesday and while it doesn’t include tax increases, it does make some cuts. The proposed budget eliminates a health care program for non citizen adults. “There are lots of priorities I’d like to do immediately if we had the resources to do it. We cannot do it this year and so that’s why we had to make some changes,” Pritzker told reporters following his budget address.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) – A new Illinois law aims to protect survivors of domestic violence by taking guns out of the hands of accused abusers when an order of protection is granted. “This is a step in the right direction,” Gov. JB Pritzker said before signing Karina’s Law Monday. “Taking lethal weapons from those who have already done harm and are an immediate and present danger to do further harm is simply common sense.”The law is named after Karina Gonzalez of Chicago.
