Joan Elizabeth Hunold, 91, of Montrose, died Saturday, April 12, 2025 at The Kensington, Fort Madison. She was born March 3, 1934 at Fort Madison, a daughter of Harry and Elizabeth (Mertens) Nichting. She married Harold R. Hunold on June 9, 1953 and the couple started their life together farming northeast of West Point. They raised three children there, David, Jean, and Patricia. In 1972, they moved the family to Montrose where Joan and her family operated farm supply and grain marketing businesses.
