    CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Communities are still in recovery mode after Tuesday night’s storm and one local cemetery was hit pretty hard. Bellefonte’s Union Cemetery suffered thousands of dollars in damage from the storm and the history lost can’t be bought back. Now they’re reaching out to the community for help. Roughly six trees got knocked down with branches scattered all throughout the property.

    CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Counties across Central Pennsylvania have started the long process of cleaning up after Tuesday’s storm swept through and left tons of damage in its wake. However, several areas that have been impacted will more than likely be cleaning up for at least the next couple of days. One of the most impacted areas is Centre County, with hundreds left without power. As of Wednesday evening, First Energy is still reporting that up to 29,000 customers still don’t have power.

    HUNTINGDON, Pa. (WTAJ) – Huntingdon Area School District is celebrating new solar panels for their energy production capabilities and opportunities for students. The project to install solar panels at Standing Stone Elementary School, Huntingdon Area Middle School and Southside Elementary School started over two years ago. Its goal was to provide energy savings for the buildings, while also teaching students about renewable energy.

    BELLEFONTE, Pa. (WTAJ) – Stuckey Automotive and Ford Driving Skills for Life teamed up to educate Bellefonte Area High School students on the dangers of teen driving. This presentation came during prom season, a night meant to be fun for the students. But, as President of Stuckey Automotive Matt Stuckey says, now is more important than ever to get this information to the kids. “We are now in the 100 deadliest days for teen drivers,” Stuckey said.

    CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – The Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority (CCRRA) has a busy weekend ahead with collecting hazardous waste and testing a potential new recycling system at Penn State’s Blue-White Game. The CCRRA’s annual hazardous waste collection event is for residents to drop off items they do not know how to dispose of properly. The facility is looking for items like pool chemicals, anti-freeze and oil-based paints.
