    CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - The American Cancer Society held a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony Friday at Charleston's newly renovated Hope Lodge. The facility, now officially named the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Hope Lodge, offers free lodging to cancer patients and their caregivers traveling to the Charleston area for treatment. In 2024 alone, the Hope Lodge provided nearly 10,000 free nights of stay, saving patients and their families more than $1.3 million in lodging costs.

    CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) - Charleston County's coroner identified a man and woman who died after being pulled from the water at Breach Inlet earlier this week. Yoselin Lopez-Perez, 18, and Guillermo Quintero-Camacho, 28, died hours apart at the Medical University of South Carolina, according to the coroner's office. Emergency crews responded to reports of two people struggling in the water Tuesday afternoon and brought the male and female to shore.
